A few things to be on the lookout for first:
- It does look like we'll have school pictures this year! They're tentatively scheduled for November 20th & November 23rd (in order to catch the L-Z kids and the A-K kids).
- We're on the hunt for some people to create Dundee's yearbook during this strange year. It could be a fun time to reinvent the traditional yearbook! Email us to volunteer!
- We're having an online-only book fair in October. This will obviously look a lot different than our usual book fair. Information will come home in backpacks with details soon!
Now for the quick recap:
Smart Gen Society is an incredible Omaha-based nonprofit that is all about empowering people to make good choices in a digital world. The founder, Amie, walked our PTO meeting attendees through several different online apps, games, and social media pros and cons. Do your kids play Roblox or Minecraft? Are they on Snapchat or Instagram or YouTube? She had great details on the best ways to ensure our kids are responsible while online. |
The other info-packed part of the meeting was listening to the two Dundee-area candidates for Omaha Public Schools board tell us a bit about themselves and answer some questions. We're thankful to have two candidates running to represent us and that they took the time to chat with us (and both attended the Smart Gen Society presentation, too!).
If you missed it, your best bet is to check out this forum both candidates participated in for the League of Women Voters, linked below. They tackle a lot of questions there, and I'm sure both candidates would be happy to answer any additional questions you might have via their social media accounts or websites.
Thanks to both candidates for their time, and best of luck in the election!
